New York City

A few of my favorite places to see Shakespeare in New York:

Red Bull Theater

A New York-based theater company specializing in Shakespeare and his contemporaries.  I’ve reviewed their productions of “The Revenger’s Tragedy” (2006), “Edward II” (2007), and "Women Beware Women" (208) for Shakespeare Bulletin.

The Brooklyn Academy of Music

Probably the best place in New York to see Shakespeare, BAM hosts British troupes like the RSC and (best of all) Propeller.  I reviewed Propeller’s Twelfth Night (2006) and the RSC King Lear (2007) for Shakespeare Bulletin. The latest at BAm is the Bridge Project, whose "Winter's Tale" I reviewed in 2008, and who are bringing "As You Like It" and "The Tempest" to Brooklyn in early 2010.

Theater for a New Audience

A thriving new New York-based company.  My "Shakespeare and Islam" class went to see their “Antony and Cleopatra” in March 2008, and I'm taking another class to see "Measure for Measure" in February 2010.

Shakespeare NYC

Another New York-based company.  I reviewed their “Macbeth” (2007) for Shakespeare Bulletin.
